Honeysuckle
This beautiful, endlessly repeating design, created by William Morris in 1876, draws on the flowers and plants of the gardens and landscapes of his beloved England – a world he returned to time and again in his work. The flowing pattern of flowers and swirling forms has an almost hypnotic effect. It's hardly surprising that it has graced homes around the world for more than a century. A true testament to this artistic design's status as a timeless classic. William Morris (1834–1896) was an influential English designer and utopian thinker. In response to industrialisation, he became a passionate advocate of craftsmanship and traditional methods of production. He placed great value on work done by hand, and his sketches and drawings can still be found in the Morris & Co. archives in London. He also believed that applied art should be accessible to everyone. Unfortunately, many of his handcrafted products were beyond the means of ordinary people, and most of his customers came from the wealthier classes of the day. We like to think William Morris would have been pleased to see his design on a practical, affordable Storage Box.
