Gé’s Bench

In one of the most beautiful spots in Haarlem, behind the Adriaan Windmill along the Spaarne river, stands the most beautiful bench in Haarlem – Gé’s bench.

We are lucky, because the bench is ours. We bought it from Gé years ago, and ever since, it has proudly stood outside our office during the summer months. Visitors, passers-by and tourists all stop to admire it – and everyone wants to sit on it.

Gé is a retired surveyor who spends his spare time making these benches in his workshop by the water. The oak comes from De Eenhoorn, a sawmill in Schalkwijk, and is perfectly suited to the curved backrest, as the natural bend is already present in the wood itself. The bench is finished with epoxy resin, which gives it its beautiful shine. It is best suited for indoor use and would be perfect in a hallway or waiting room.

Please note: only two benches are currently available for sale. The lead time for any subsequent bench is no less than one year. Every bench Gé makes takes hundreds of hours of work. You can see it, and you can feel it.

To us, this bench is not only an incredibly beautiful calling card, but also the ultimate example of Dutch Design.
