When we were unexpectedly approached by Douwe Egberts last year for a possible collaboration, we were completely surprised. What was that enormous, internationally operating coffee giant supposed to do with such a small sustainable brand like ours?
“So let's make something beautiful.” Says Tim Várdy, the owner of Dutch Design Brand laconic, as if something like this were asked to him every day. 'And we grabbed that offer with both hands. Dutch designers such as Marcel Wanders, Blond Amsterdam and Tord Boontje preceded us, so we are in good company.'
You can see the result here, a beautiful, colorful one limited edition from the traditional Dutch Senseo, which is of course not made of cardboard like our products, but still does justice to Ernst Haeckel's special artwork. The Art of Nature print comes to life again in a completely different way.
'The nice thing about this collaboration is that all kinds of expressions are created Dutch Design Brand normally doesn't have at all.' Tim says proudly, 'For example, there are huge posters with our brand on them throughout the Netherlands and a commercial is broadcast on television. It is a completely new experience to see our brand represented everywhere in public spaces. Of course, this does not detract from what we stand for as a brand.'
In addition to the coffee machine itself, you will also find the Art of Nature print in a subtle way on the coffee cups in two colors, which we developed together with Senseo. The little hummingbird looks cheerfully at you from the inside of the cups.
